In June of 2014, HempMeds® part as a major sponsor of the historic Chicago Cannabis Conference. The volunteer-run event, hosted by a Michigan based nonprofit group, was the first of its kind. Facing the emergence of several competitors after literally creating the CBD industry, HempMeds® inform individuals seeking hemp CBD that it ships to all 50 states.

The challenge: this was the first introduction to cannabis ­ hemp and marijuana, and there was no dedicated PR staff at the conference.

Illinois, let alone Chicago, was in a pilot program and the city government was at times very hostile with regard to medical marijuana. Regardless of a person’s age, the law requires fingerprinting applicants for state Medical Marijuana licenses. CMW Media informed the news media of the event and invited all outlets to participate. CMW Media also coordinated the travel and media training for several mothers and children that were set to appear on camera as part of news reports about HempMeds and its flagship product, Real Scientific Hemp OilTM (RSHOTM).

CMW Media worked closely with the conference, continually reaching out to Chicago news media including personal contacts inside newsrooms. CMW Media also pulled out all the stops to set up their client for success. The results at the show spoke for themselves: the exposure gained by CW Media reached historic heights. HempMeds® erupted at the show, receiving global news coverage from NBC News, FOX News, WGN, and the Chicago SunTimes. Even their sister company, Kannaway, was featured in a global AFP video.
